Viña Maipo’s icon wines performed particularly well in Descorchados 2019, the specialized wine guide by the Chilean journalist and critic Patricio Tapia, who evaluated them with remarkable scores, choosing them “among the best of the Maipo Valley”.
Protegido 2015, the top-of-the-line Cabernet Sauvignon, stood out with 94 points in the specialized wine guide Descorchados 2019, followed with remarkable 93 points by Alto Tajamar 2013 and Limited Edition 2014.
Viña Maipo’s Origin Wines come from a unique terroir, the Quinta de Maipo vineyard, which has three distinctive types of soils, each offering exceptional characteristics to each of these bottlings from the Maipo Valley.
These awards reflect once again the consistency and quality of Viña Maipo’s winemaking proposal, led since 2007 by chief winemaker Max Weinlaub, who, along with his team, have been engaged in taking the winery’s offer to a superior level.
“Protegido 2015 stands out by a deep ruby-red color and its complex aromatic layers that include red berries, plums, cacao, tobacco and black pepper. Very fruity on the palate, it feels tasty and juicy, with a great structure as well as kind and elegant tannins”.
“Alto Tajamar 2013 appeals with an intense purple-red color and an aromatic complexity that reveals notes of fresh blackberries, sour cherries, sweet spices and cacao. It shows an exquisite balance on the palate, soft tannins and a perfect combination of power and elegance”.
“Limited Edition 2014 displays a deep violet-red color and a wonderful aromatic complexity. It has a great fruit expression of fresh blackberries, plums and cherries, with some touches of sweet spices and cacao. On the palate it shows the sweetness of its fruit, a balanced acidity and an agreeable persistence”.
